Singing protegé, Josh Groban was born in Los Angeles in 1981. His father was a businessman, and his mother, a schoolteacher. Recognizing his talent early, his parents sent him for music lessons and by the age of seven, he debuted as a singer.
In college, opera became his main focus of interest, and voice training became intensive. At seventeen, his voice coach introduced him to the person who would become very influential in his career, super-producer (and Canadian) David Foster.
Foster used young Groban as a rehearsal singer for various of his artists. During the 1999 Grammy Awards, Groban stood in for Andrea Bocelli to sing "The Prayer" with Celine Dion. They were reunited in 2008 for a CBS TV special.
